Ffos Las will open in June - Thursday, December 11, 2008
Fffos Las Racecourse in Trimsaran will stage its first horse racing fixture on Thursday evening, June 18, 2009.
Its new website (www.ffoslasracecourse.com) has gone live, showing how many days, hours, minutes and seconds remain until the big day.
And for the first time, the admission price for the single enclosure racecourse has been announced — it will be £17 for people aged 16 and over. Under-16s accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge. There will be concessions as well as discounts for group bookings, details of which will be announced shortly.
General manager Jon Williams (pictured left) said: ''There are now fewer than 200 days to go before racing begins at Ffos Las Racecourse. This is a tremendously exciting time for everyone.
''The interest in Ffos Las is massive and people who want to know how things are coming along should visit the new website.
''It already features the latest pictures from the air, and more details are being added every week.''
The racing surface at the racecourse is in superb condition, and has already won praise from officials in charge of horse racing in Britain.
Construction work at the first new turf racecourse to open in Britain for more than 80 years is on schedule.
Building work on the stables is well advanced, and work on the grandstand will begin shortly.
The course has been created on the site of a 600-acre former opencast mine by the Walters Group of civil engineers.
