Parents' outrage at youth club's summer closure

Parents and councillors are furious at the closure of a Kidwelly youth club.

Carmarthenshire Council said it had been forced to close facilities because of high costs and low turnouts.

The evening youth club in Kidwelly is one of many axed over the summer holidays.

But Kidwelly councillor and mum Fran Burke-Lloyd said the youth clubs were well attended and described the closure as "absolutely crazy".

"If anything, the clubs would be busier over the summer because kids travel into Kidwelly to see their friends," she said. "The people who make these decisions obviously don't have children themselves."
