Ffos Las chiefs out to build on success

Ffos Las bosses are intent on building on the success of last week's sell-out opening meeting.

A crowd of 10,000 crammed into the Gwendraeth Valley track last Thursday to mark the opening of Wales's third racecourse.

The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, July 21, the first time the Flat course will be used.

And while the crowd for an afternoon midweek meeting is unlikely to match the five-figure attendance of opening night, course chiefs are determined to maintain the feelgood factor.

"Everyone wanted to come to the first one and we put on a good show," said general manager Jon Williams.

"We won't get the same crowd for the next meeting, but we are putting on a family fun day and make it a slightly different event."
