Anger as towns left off tourist map

- Wednesday May 20 2009

Businesses and community leaders are furious after their town was left off the map for a major new major tourist attraction just a few miles away.

Both Burry Port and Pembrey have been omitted from the map on a colour brochure advertising Britain's newest racecourse Ffos Las in Trimsaran.

There is also no mention of a railway station in Burry Port, while the brochure lists the nearest stations as Kidwelly, Llanelli and Carmarthen.

As a result, there are fears the town could lose out on passing trade from racing fans once the course opens next month.

Ffos Las chiefs have defended the brochure saying they did not want to "overcomplicate" the map, but they have promised to change it if there are enough complaints.

Hefin Williams, who owns The George Hotel in Stepney Road, Burry Port, said: "I am utterly disappointed that Burry Port is not on the map."
