Ffos Las family day's a good bet
- Tuesday September 1 2009
After the success of the grand opening of Ffos Las last Friday, the West Wales racecourse is gearing up for its first weekend of action later this month.
A bumper prize fund of £118,000 will be on offer over the two-day festival on September 12 and 13 as the Trimsaran course looks to build on its blossoming reputation.
As well as the racing, the racecourse is laying on an array of free entertainment for the family, including bouncy castles, face-painting and fairground rides.
There will also be a real ale festival, operated by Felinfoel Brewery.
Ffos Las's Julie Harrington said: "The racecourse is delighted to be hosting its first weekend racing fixtures when there will be something for everyone in the family to see and enjoy. The first three days of racing at Ffos Las have been a great success."
The first race on Saturday is at 2.15pm. Highlights of a seven-race card are the £25,000 Totesport.com Handicap Stakes over one-and- three-quarter miles, and the £15,000 Totesport 0800 221 221 Handicap Stakes over the minimum horse racing distance of five furlongs.
There are six races on the Sunday (2.10pm start), the best of which will be the £12,000 Totepool Handicap Stakes over one-and-a-half-miles.
